2015 Zombie Run to be held October 31st
The 2015 Zombie Run will be held Saturday, October 31st at the Richland County Fairgrounds with registration beginning at 9:00 am and the run beginning at 10:00 am. This is a Fun Run Obstacle Course and a family friendly event where strollers are welcome. This is the second year that the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture has held the event and this year's sponsors are Oneok, Trisha Klempel Designs, and Kim and Andrew Simmonds. Participants are invited to dress up in their Halloween costumes, but are advised to keep in mind that the Zombie Run is an obstacle course where they will be climbing and crawling on the ground and tennis shoes are best. No weapons are allowed. This is one of three community benefits the Chamber puts on including the Sunrise Festival of the Arts and the Bakken Brewfest.
Participants should enter through the east entrance and will head South along the canal to the walking path along Airport Road were they will then travel West and turn North onto 22nd Ave SW. They will then walk or run a short distance East down Holly Street and reenter the Fairgrounds through the north entrance. Once inside, they follow the marked route through the south parking lot, livestock barns, through the rodeo arena, and back to the east entrance. Some of the obstacles people will encounter along the way include a hay stack pyramid, noodle alley, mazes, army crawl, and tire hurdles.
Prizes will be awarded to the Best Zombie Costume, Best Non-Zombie Costume, and Most Creatively Dressed for individuals and teams; the first three finishers will receive Chamber Bucks and other prizes include gift baskets and bags put together by the Chamber and area businesses, gift certificates, and age appropriate prizes for kids.
The always wonderful RSVP volunteers will be there to help out, but volunteers are still needed to set up on Friday the 30th and tear down Saturday after the event; anyone interested should contact RSVP at 406-433-2207. Those that would like to participate in this year's Zombie Run can register at the event; cost is $30 per runner. Pre-registration is encouraged and available at the Chamber, 909 S Central Ave in Sidney; those who register by October 15th will get $5 off and are guaranteed a long-sleeved tee shirt with the Zombie Run logo on it. For a team or family of four there is a $90 registration fee. Shirts will be available at the pre-registration table at the east entrance of the fairgrounds.
