Williston Youth Group will hold a Pancake Breakfast Oct. 18th to Raise Money for World Youth Day

St. Joseph’s Youth Group will be holding a free will offering pancake breakfast and silent auction from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm central time Sunday, October 18th at the St. Joseph’s gymnasium, 106 6th St. West in Williston and all are invited. The Youth Group Students are raising money to attend World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland in July of 2016; in all there will be 15 high school students and twelve adults making the pilgrimage, including two youth leaders and Father Kovash.

St. John Paul II established World Youth Day in 1984 as an opportunity for Catholic Youth from all over the world to come together. While World Youth Day has been held in countries all over the world, Krakow, Poland is especially exciting to those who will be attending because it is where St. John Paul II is from. Events for the trip include a pre-trip sightseeing tour In the Footsteps of St. John Paul II; some of the sights are a visit to St. John Paul II’s birthplace, gondola rides, a guided tour of Czestochowa, a 15th century monastery, as well as a guided tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau. During the scheduled events for World Youth Day, students will get an opportunity to meet the Pope.

St. Joseph’s Youth Group has never attended the international gathering before and will be the only group from the Bismark Diocese to attend in 2016. The group will be leaving July 20, 2016 and returning August 1, 2016.

The students and their families have each donated themed baskets to be auctioned off including a Book Basket, Coyote Basket, Americana Basket, Harley Davidson Basket, and Popcorn basket just to name a few.

If anyone would like to contribute, but is unable to attend the free will breakfast, checks can be made out to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and can be mailed to them at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church: Attention World Youth Day, PO Box K, Williston, ND, 58802.
