ND Author Cecile Long Book Signing At The McKenzie County Library Nov. 21

Author and playwright Cecile Long will be at the McKenzie County Library, 112 2nd Ave NE, Watford City, ND from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. CT, signing her newly published book, "I Drew Him from the Water". The book tells the story of Moses and Pharaoh from the perspective of reporter Marissa, assigned to do a documentary about Moses and accounts her struggle between loyalty to her beloved Pharaoh and uncovering the truth about Moses, a mysterious stranger in town, as the people of Egypt are caught in the middle.

Long, who currently lives in Hazelton, ND, originally wrote I Drew Him from the Water as a children's play for a pastor in Watford City three years ago while she was living in Alexander, ND. The play took twelve weeks to perform and parents who couldn't be there for every chapter of the performance encouraged her to write it as a book.

Long spent a year writing it as a novel with it initially being rejected by publishers because it was written in screenplay format. "I am a playwright and a poet, so of course that's how I wrote it," said Long, "and then I had to rewrite it. The writing and editing process took about two years total."

The almost three hundred page book accounts Biblical facts in a fictional format and is a book appropriate for anyone thirteen years and older, crossing different genres of interest. It contains murder, mystery, action and adventure and has a glossary in the back at the request of a select few avid readers that Long looked to for advice.

Having only been available for purchase for a couple of weeks, I Drew Him from the Water has been well received; it is available on shelves at the Visitor's Center in Bismarck, ND, Arrowhead Drug and Prairie Creek Drug, also in Bismarck, and LaMoure Drug in Lamoure, ND. It can be purchased on Amazon and is also available as an eBook.
