Sidney's Top Stories of 2015


Gresh Jones turns Columbia Falls' Haze Bell in the championship match at 126 pounds. Jones pinned Bell in 54 seconds to claim his fourth state title.

The Sidney High School Wrestling Team placed second in at state in 2015. They had four individual state champions.

Gresh Jones became a four time Montana State Champ, 24th in Montana History. Jones is currently a redshirt freshman wrestling for the University of Minnesota majoring in Kinesiology.

Trace Jones became a two time Montana State Champ and is a Junior at Sidney High School. He is focusing his talents on football and track.

Cody Christian was a state champ as a senior. He is attending college at the University of Colorado Denver, studying civil engineering.

Ryan Chatterton was state champ his junior year. Chatterton passed away in late 2015.

The Sidney Wrestling Club took 45 wrestlers to the AAU State Folkstyle Tournament this weekend in Great Falls. Five wrestlers came home state champions: Kaleb Kutzler - Bantam 90, Zander Dean - Midget 70, Wyatt Van Buren - Elite 126, Gresh Jones - Elite 132, and Ethan Graves - Elite 152.

The Sidney Tigershark Swim Team placed scond at the state tournament in 2015.

The Tigersharks had two relay teams and five individual event state champions in 2015.

Event #1: 8 under boys relay - consisted of Corbin Holler, Ethan Erickson, Kale Witt & Hunter Sanders

Event #78: 11-12 girls relay was Shea Roberts, Gwyneth Arthur, Hadley Garsjo & Taylor Stewart

Individuals were Corbin 2 events (#11 & 41), Hadley 1 event (#36) and Aubrey Kessel 2 events (#40 & 70).

The team was coached by Marissa Eberling and Heidi Anderson.
