Sidney Gymnastics Minot Meet Results

Little Sidney Gymnastics Club ventured out against the gymnastic giants of North Dakota, Sat., Feb. 6 and returned victorious over the "big boys" in a number of events at the Kim Lupo Gymnastics Qualifier, held at Gymmagic Gymnastics in Minot, ND.

Session 1: Mini Meet

Jeff Tjelde of SGC went to this warm-up event in preparation for his USA Gymnastics debut at the Bozeman Blizzard Fri., Feb. 12, 2016; where he and Taton Bright will represent Sidney Gymnastics Club. This will be the first time in at least 15 years that SGC has had boys attend a USA Gymnastics Men's sanctioned event.

Session 2: Level 3

SGC was short one of their "Big Three" second year competitors- Makyya Beyer of (Jordan/Selting/Beyer)-yet still did well in the team competition. Second year gymnast Macy Tjelde and first year Kylie Schoepp stepped up and contributed a couple of 9.0 plus scores to propel SGC to second place overall.

Team Competition: 1st Bismarck Gymnastics Academy 109.90; 2nd Sidney 109.00; 3rd Gymagic (Minot) 106.35; 4th Dickinson 206.20; 5th Dakota Star (Mandan) 104.70; Western Stars (Williston) 204.15

Individual Competition: Competing Second Year Gymnasts: Lacie Selting; Ella Jordan; Kenzie Gaffield; Macie Tjelde. First Year Gymnasts: Kylie Schoepp; in addition to Schoepp; Halley Getchell, Hannah Ossowski, Emily Johnson, and Abigail Berry had their first competition, competing on uneven bars and vault.

SGC Top Ten Finishes:

Vault: 2nd M. Tjelde; 4th L. Selting; 10th K. Schoepp

Uneven Bars: 1st E. Jordan; 2nd L. Selting; 8th K. Schoepp

Balance Beam: 3rd E. Jordan; 5th L. Selting

Floor Exercise: 5th L. Selting; 6th E. Jordan

All Around: 2nd L. Selting; 3rd E. Jordan; 10th K. Schoepp

Session 3: Level 4

This competition represented the first time this season that all six of the SGC Level 4 team members were at a meet together, and it resulted in a new team scoring record as well as meeting a goal of defeating the team from Bismarck Gymnastics Academy.

Team Competition: 1st Gymagic (Minot) 107.250; Sidney 2nd 106.250; 3rd Bismarck 105.700; 4th Dickinson 99.60

Individual Competition: Competing for SGC were Riley Jimison, Allison Axtman, Kambre Kloker, Taylor McPherson, Allison Thiel, and Marleah Campbell; every athlete contributing at least one score to the team total and placing top ten in at least one event. McPherson and Kloker were standouts at Minot, each winning an individual title.

SGC dominated the Floor Exercise competition, going 1st-2nd-3rd-5th-8th-12th out of 38 competitors.
