Young Professionals of Watford City Brings Connections to the Community

Young Professionals of Watford City (YPWC) is an organization based on the values of community, leadership, contribution, personal growth and involvement. The group was started about 6 months ago by Kenny Leibel and a few friends, who have been living and working in the Watford City area since 2008. The idea came to be when they saw that Watford was a city built by leaders as well as an excellent community, and they wanted to give citizens a chance to advance their professional development and social skills.

YPWC already has around 50 members, where they experience a plethora of hands on learning. "In the professional world, it is all about who you know and building those connections. Our goal at YPWC is to get you those connections and relationships for future advancements," said Kenny Leibel, head of YPWC. The vision of the association is to help provide young professionals with an environment in the community to learn, gain new skills, and socialize. "We are geared toward the ages between 20-40 years old, but anyone can become a professional. We would encourage high schoolers to join our program as well."

YPWC also wants the public to know that they are a local service group, and they have already had a few fund raising events. They are still learning and growing, and are always looking for opportunities to help the community and young leaders. "YPWC can only help you grow in your career, self-respect, and relationships," said Leible. "It is a place to meet people and have fun, while all the while learning professionalism and connections."

Every month YPWC holds a social "lunch n learn" every 3rd Wednesday from 11:30 to 1:30 with a guest note speaker and presentation. Cost to attend this monthly event is $10 for YWPC members, and $15 for non-members. To become a member, simply go to ypofwc.com to fill out an application with a $40 annual fee.
