Dedication Planned For Veterans Memorial

The dedication for the Northeast Montana Veterans Memorial Park will take place on July 4 starting at 10 a.m.in Fort Peck.

Organizers note that about 30 World War II veterans have been invited to the ceremony.

The memorial was established to memorialize the sacrifices of the many thousands of military veterans who are past and present residents of Montana.

The memorial is being paid for by area residents and sponsors. No state or federal funds are used.

Residents are urged to purchase tiles featuring a name of a loved one who served our country. The wall is for any veteran considered important to the residents of northeastern Montana. Construction began on the first phase of the memorial in May 2015. The phase included all preliminary surveys, soil tests, architecture, design and construction engineering, entries and flat work, the main monument, entry sign, flagpoles, vigil area foundations, basic electric, irrigation, sod, trees, shrubs, an eagle sculpture on an entry kiosk and 10 Walls of Honor.

The memorial is located in the center of Fort Peck on land the Town of Fort Peck transferred to the Northeast Montana Veterans Memorial by permanent easement.
