Guest Speaker Impressed With Community

I am hesitant to individually thank the people that I and my family met this Memorial Day. I am horrible with remembering names of people that I have just met, so please forgive me for not thanking each individual person because I know I would forget someone.

Furthermore, I wish to extend my deep appreciation to the Sidney VFW Post and Auxiliary #4099 for inviting me to be the guest speaker at the 2016 Memorial Day ceremony. I am humbled by the graciousness and kindness of the Post/Auxiliary members extended to our family.

To the young man that was our waiter at the Pizza Hut on Sunday evening (around 6 p.m.) thank you for your kindness and attention to detail to ensure that the extra pizza was not left behind.

The Best Western Golden Prairie Inn had a clean comfortable room with a delicious breakfast on Monday morning.

Finally, to the members of the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture, thank you for the gift of the Western Straw Hat! That was the proverbial Cherry on top of the Sundae!

After the ceremony, my family received a personal tour of the Flags of Honor program. It was touching to see all of the flags and then seeing some names of the veterans that I have helped reinforced the love I have for my job.

On behalf of my spouse Dawn and our daughter Jordyn, please accept our heartfelt gratitude for the kindness and graciousness extended to us this past Sunday and Memorial Day.

It was an honor to be asked to speak at your fine program.

We hope to return next year to watch the parade.

Respectfully,

Keith D. Olson

Veteran Service Officer II
