Sidney Native is Working Behind-The-Scenes at the 2016 Summer Olympics

William "Bill" Forrester Jr. is currently in Rio helping with the Olympic Games. The 1970 Sidney High School graduate currently resides in Sacramento, CA. When he retired about three years ago from his work as a Civil Engineer with the Federal Highway Commission, he took a job with Sports Courts of America, building and setting up temporary volleyball courts.

Forrester, who has been a volleyball referee since his college days, was happy to get involved with Sports Courts of America, who contract all over the United States as well as internationally. He is currently keeping himself busy as 20 – 25 volleyball courts were needed for matches and practices during the Olympic Games.

This is the third time that the Sidney native has attended the Olympics; he was working for Sports Courts of America for the London Olympics and worked as a volunteer during the Atlanta, GA Olympics where he set up and organized the volleyball tournaments.

During his seven weeks overseas, Forrester has called his parents, Bill Sr. and Mary Forrester a few times to let them know that he's enjoying himself and staying busy.

"He's getting some time off in the evenings," commented Mary Forrester.

Bill Forrester Jr. is due back in the United States Aug. 27th, and will enjoy a few days at home before riding his Harley to the University of Montana in Missoula, where he will referee with Big Ten Volleyball.

"He's always enjoyed being involved with the sport and does a lot of this just because he loves to be there at the games, whether he's building courts or refereeing," said Bill Forrester Sr.
