The Sidney Area Leadership Task Force is looking for interested applicants for their 2016/2017 Leadership Class. The goal of the Leadership Class is to create champions for Eastern Montana, so that there are well-informed leaders that can assist when community projects present themselves.

"The Leadership Class is a stepping stone to help people determine their strengths," said Task Force Chair Kelly Reisig of the hands-on courses that have been going strong since 1999.

The projects accomplished by the 2015/2016 class include social media tags #spiritedsidney and #richesofrichland to help promote the area. These social media tags were printed on banners and featured at local events such as the Baaken Brewfest.

The class worked in cooperation with the Montana Department of Transportation to create a new roundabout and welcoming space for visitors in the area, which will be located at Town Pump south of town.

The Gartside Improvement Project improved gravel roads and access to the lake along with upgrades such as new picnic tables, and a trail head sign. The class raised more than $10,000 with a little more than $3,000 left, which will be used for project sustainability.

The Leadership Class of 2015/2016 would like to thank Lower Yellowstone and the Richland County Road Department for materials and labor. They would also like to thank donors API, Pheasants Forever, Walleyes Unlimited, and Outdoor Legacy.

The classes will be held the third Wednesday of each month. The cost is $250 which includes books, materials, and meals, or $200 for Chamber members. Applications can be picked up at the Richland County Library at 121 3rd Ave NW or at the Sidney Chamber of Commerce at 909 S Central Ave and must be turned into one of the latter locations by August 31st.
