Williston Economic Development is gearing up for the Williston Retail Summit on Thursday, Sept. 29. The four hour free seminar will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at TrainND Northwest.

The Retail Summit is for anyone interested in starting a small business in the Williston trade region including stakeholders, commercial developers and entrepreneurs. The seminar will review the tools and resources that are available for small business owners in Williston.

“We will outline efforts for expanding and supporting retail; provide an overview of the retail market; and discuss the opportunities and challenges we still face in attracting retail,” said Shawn Wenko, Executive Director of Williston Economic Development.

The morning session will also feature Buxton’s Cheyenne Robinson. Buxton, WED and the Williston Convention and Visitors Bureau formed a partnership one year ago to ramp up Williston’s retail recruitment strategies. Other panelists include representatives from Menards, First International Bank and Trust, Energy Real Estate Solutions, Little Muddy Gifts and more. The speakers will provide their analysis of the Williston retail market and offer advice for newcomers.

“We will discuss some of the data bases we use and how they work, the regional aspect of retail and how the trade area looks at this time,” said Keith Olson, Director of the Small Business Development Center in Williston.

The Retail Summit will be held at TrainND Northwest at 415 22nd Ave NE in Williston. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the welcome and first panel of experts at 10:15 a.m. Lunch will be provided at approximately 11:45 a.m.
