Sidney Welcomes City Clerk/Treasurer Deputy Sasha Milender

The City of Sidney welcomed Sasha Milender as their City Clerk/Treasurer Deputy on Monday, Sept. 26th. Milender was hired for the new position after the city council approved combining the position of City Clerk and Treasurer at a Sept. 6th meeting, with the stipulation that they would hire a City Clerk/Treasurer Deputy to assist with the responsibilities of the combined position.

Milender moved to the area in 1998 and graduated from Sidney Senior High School in 2006. She worked at Oakland Construction for two years in their office, but was impacted by layoffs caused by the downturn of oil activity. She then did fill-in pipeline work for a couple of months before applying for the city position.

"The staff is extremely friendly and great to work with and I am really excited knowing that I can assist in helping the city of Sidney," said Milender. "I like going to the committee meetings and hearing the great ideas people have on how to make things better. It's been exciting to see the changes in town over the years like the bike path and the expansion of the high school. I enjoy seeing growth and improvement and I'm glad I get to be involved in that."

While the position is still new and details are still being worked out, Milender's position is to assist City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Redfield by helping with payroll, attending meetings and taking minutes, preparing meeting agendas, and assisting at the front desk.

"We're all very excited to have Sasha at City Hall. She's a great fit in the office and is doing very well in the position. Hiring a City Clerk/Treasurer Deputy seems to be the right choice," Redfield commented.

Both Milender and Redfield are happy to be working together and serving the best interest of Sidney and it's residents.
