Simply Soy Lesson Offered

Soy is a plant native to Asia and has been a staple in the Asian diet for more than 5,000 years.

This popular bean is found in a wide variety of food products, from tofu to infant formula, as well as nonfood products such as shampoo, diesel fuel and cosmetics. This lesson will help attendees learn about types of soy foods as well as health benefits associated with them.

Simply Soy will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 27 at the McKenzie County Extension Office. Pre-registration is requested prior to attending this lesson. Please contact this office by Tuesday, October 25 if you would like to participate.

Also at this lesson, uses of soy in food will be explained as well as the MyPlate recommendations for eating soy. Participants will also learn about the special roles soy can play in managing special diets. Finally, preparation of soybeans for eating will be covered and recipes of foods utilizing soy products will shared and food sampled.
