Richland Federal Credit Union Celebrated International Credit Union Day Oct. 20

October 20th was International Credit Union Day, and Richland Federal Credit Union, located at 201 West Holly St in Sidney, took the opportunity to say thank you to their members, inviting them to stop by for refreshments. International Credit Union Day celebrates the history of credit unions and what sets them apart. These member owned, not-for-profit financial cooperatives were founded on nine principals: democratic control, open membership, nondiscrimination, service to members, distribution to members, building financial stability, co-op cooperation, social responsibility, and on-going education. Credit unions have been in operation for 164 years and offer everything other financial institutions do. There are over 217 million members worldwide, with more than 100 million of them in the United States.
