Farm and Ranch Succession Planning

Many people in our area are a part of a farm or ranch operation, it is a family business. Having a family business is difficult, no matter what form of business it is. On December 6th and 13th from 1:00p.m. to 4:30p.m. North Dakota State University Extension Service Williams County will be hosting Design Your Succession Plan. Attendance on both dates is required as it is a seven hour program. This will be at the Williston Research Extension Center. A great opportunity for families to come and start the discussion on what will happen to their farm/ranch operation. Separating the family emotions from the business aspect of an operation is difficult. This program will provide great resources, training and a base knowledge of what steps should come next. Some might be asking “Who Should Attend?” This program is for families who want to shape the future ownership of their family farm or ranch - the family legacy - whether that is transferring a viable business to the next generation or determining how to divide farm /ranch assets. Even if you have attended other transition, estate, or succession planning classes, consider attending this program to get a start on your succession plan. Pre-registration is preferred for this program, please call the NDSU Extension Office for more information and a registration brochure, 701-577-4595.
