Sidney Dental Provides "Just About Everything"

Dr. Jesse Cole compares his reason for opening Sidney Dental to a root beer float. The way it is difficult to get the perfect balance of ice cream and root beer, it was hard for him to maintain balance at his practice in Scobey. Having been the only dentist in Scobey, Dr. Cole was unable to keep up with the demand of his business.

“It’s difficult finding balance between having enough to do and keeping up with all you have to do,” he said.

That prompted him to return to the San Francisco dental school from which he graduated to recruit Dr. Franco Ferrara. Dr. Ferrara had just graduated in May 2015. The pair caught up with Scobey Dental’s busy schedule – nearly six months booked – and then decided to take over Dr. Kurt Christensen’s practice in Sidney.

Since November 2015, Dr. Cole and Dr. Ferrara have owned Sidney Dental, splitting their time between their Sidney and Scobey offices. Dr. Cole, who resides in Scobey, typically works in Sidney Mondays and Fridays, and Dr. Ferrara is in Sidney “75 percent of the time.”

Originally from Las Vegas, Dr. Ferrara now lives in Culbertson.

“Being from a big city, my favorite part is that people are so much friendlier here,” he said. He added that he finds fulfillment in trying to improve people’s lives day-to-day.

Dr. Cole, who grew up in Kansas and Alaska and practiced dentistry in Idaho, said he fell in love with the area when he moved to Scobey in 2010 to open Scobey Dental. He graduated from dental school 10 years ago from University of the Pacific, where both dentists studied.

“I don’t mind the commute [to Sidney],” he said. “I have a pretty busy life and it gives me time to chill on the drive.”

Sidney Dental offers “just about everything – you name it,” both dentists said, including dental implants, 3-D x-rays, dentures, and Invisalign clear braces.

“Before, people would have to travel pretty far to get dental implants, like Billings or maybe Williston,” Dr. Ferrara said. “That’s something we brought into the practice.”

Sidney Dental includes hygienist Deb Solberg, dental assistants Nancy Beiswanger and Kari Sinks, and office manager Cyndee Parker.

“I am grateful for people helping us build our business,” Dr. Cole said.
