Miss Montana Crown to Classroom Tour Focuses on STEM

Miss Montana Lauren Scofield will be in Miles City doing school presentations as part of her crown to classroom school tours. She has been visiting schools across Montana encouraging students to pursue the fields of STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

She will be in Savage and Sidney Schools on Jan. 16 and Culbertson and Bainville on January 17 doing science experiments and playing piano, her talent at the Miss America Pageant.

At the crown to classroom tour Lauren will talk about the importance of basic STEM knowledge in today’s world, but also encourage the wide range of possibilities that STEM fields provide, including critical thinking skills. As Miss Montana, Lauren hopes to encourage as many students as possible to reach their full potential and to realize that it is cool to be nerdy. Miss Montana will also perform her piano talent at school presentations.

Miss Montana 2016, Lauren Scofield, is a 22-year-old graduate of Carroll College with a degree in Biochemistry-Molecular Biology, and a minor in Gender Studies. After her year as Miss Montana, she plans to pursue her medical degree to become an OB/GYN, with the help of $8,000 from the Miss MT and Miss America Scholarship Programs. Lauren was one of five scholarship finalists for a STEM scholarship at the Miss America pageant. To book Miss Montana for corporate functions, entertainment or special events, contact Exec.
