Traylor is originally from Germany but immigrated to the US at the age of 16. After a few moves, she settled in South Carolina where she worked as a sous chef at a country club for 10 years.

Wanting to get away from crowds, she and her family started searching for "small town USA" and found Sidney, MT. They had no idea about the oil boom going on, or the high rents, but they decided to make Sidney their home. Traylor and her husband Robert Oakley have four children aged 19, 16, 4 and 7 months. They love the community and are happy to be in a place "where everybody knows everybody".
