12th Annual Bra Auction May 5

Cancer is a pervasive health concern in America. Most of us know someone who has battled cancer, or is currently doing so. The Cancer Coalition, in cooperation with the Foundation for Community Care, the Sidney Health Center and the Richland County Health Department is holding the 12th annual 2017 Bra Auction on Friday, May 5th at the Richland County Event Center to help in the fight against cancer.

The purpose of the event is to raise money for the Cancer Coalition Aid Fund, and is intended to help both men and women in the community struggling with cancer. Various community members will donate bras that are personalized and decorated, which will then be auctioned off, every cent of the proceeds going to the Cancer Coalition Aid Fund which will be used for cancer patients in Richland County.

In 2016, 41 cancer patients with 26 different types of cancer were aided by such donations. Each patient recieves a $1000 donation. A patient can apply once every 12 months for each new diagnosis.

The event will begin at 6:00 pm with registration and a social. The auction will be from 7:00 to 9:00. There is a freewill donation at the door, and a supper of pulled pork sandwiches and a side salad will be offered.

Registration of bras is due to the Richland County Health Department as soon as possible. All bras must be submitted by May 2nd to the Richland County Health Department. There is a limit of three entries per person, business or group.
