Ford Motor Company Supports Local Boys & Girls Clubs With Funds to Feed Hungry Children

Ford Motor Company Fund and local Ford Dealers are donating more than $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Washington, Oregon, northern Idaho, Montana and Alaska to help feed children during the holidays. This donation is in response to the increased demand for nutritious meals during the holidays, when many children lose access to school nutrition programs. It is estimated nearly 24 percent of children are unsure how their next meal will be provided.

Sixty-six clubs across the five-state region are receiving Ford Fund grants ranging from $1,000 to $1,200 as part of the Ford Focus on Child Hunger campaign. This donation will expand the previously launched campaign and increase the number of children who benefit from this hunger initiative. The money will be used to provide meals and snacks at the Clubs during the holiday season. With holiday school closures, the Boys and Girls Clubs see a seasonal increase in the number of kids needing services.

In addition to these funds, Ford is inviting each Boys & Girls Club to participate in the Youth Ford Photo Challenge to help raise awareness of childhood hunger. Each club is invited to tell a photo story of child hunger in their community for a chance to win additional grant funds.

“As the holidays approach, many struggle with providing meals for their families,” said Larry Gregerson, program manager, Ford Motor Company Fund. “We hope this donation will inspire others to join us in the fight against child hunger.”

Ford Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, is working in several ways to address food access and food insecurity throughout the U.S. In the five-state Pacific Northwest region, Ford Focus on Hunger has donated more than $2 million, providing more than 2 million meals to regional programs. Earlier this year, Ford dealers in the region collected over 75,000 pounds of peanut butter, enough to make more than 1 million peanut butter sandwiches.

“We’re grateful for Ford’s continued commitment to end hunger,” Ron McHenry, board president, Boys & Girls Clubs Washington State Association. “The funds will enable our clubs to reach even more children who face food insecurity.”
