East West International Project to Perform February 15

The Northeastern Arts Network presents the East West International Project as part of their Big Sky Concert Series on Thursday, February 15th. From different parts of the world, each member's instrumental and vocal contribution derives from unique traditions, musical backgrounds, and talents. Exemplified throughout a variety of styles, such as classical/ jazz/ tango/ folk/ pop, these nuances are emoted beautifully and with finesse.

Veronika Shabashova is a world renowned violinist, singer, actress and dancer. She was born in Ukraine in a musical family. Classically trained at the prestigious Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, she became a soloist at the State Musical Theatre of National Art and travelled all over the world.

Galina Kalyuzhina was born in Kyrgyzstan, a rugged Central Asian country along the Silk Road, the ancient trade route between China and the Mediterranean. She started to play music at a young age, and graduated from Kyrgyz National Conservatory in Bishkek. Currently, she is a member of Juliana & PAVA vocal ensemble performing ancient Russian folk songs.

Ippei Ichimaru has been a professional bass player/arranger since 1991 in Australia and America. He does more than 250 performances a year and is one of the most active bass players in Boston / NY areas. He graduated from Berkley College of music.

Classically trained at the Academy of Music in Voronezh, Russia, Sergei Teleshev has won many regional and international accordion competitions. Being accordion player of Trio Voronezh and Valinor Quartet, he collaborates with many internationally recognized artists, ensembles, and orchestras. Recently, Sergei won the National V-Accordion Competition. As the U.S. champion, Sergei represented the United States at the 7th Roland International V-Accordion Festival, in Rome, Italy, where he received a special prize for most online votes on the festival's webcast. In July 2017 he won in two categories at the International Accordion Competition in Victoria, Canada.
