LifeLight Festival Coming to Watford City, April 28

The Rough Rider Center in Watford City will be lit up and busy all day Saturday, April 28, when the LifeLight Festival takes place.

The LifeLight Festival will feature extreme sports riders, speakers, music, an illusionist show, and the Fun Zone inflatables.

The Festival is one stop on the first ever LifeLight tour. For 20 years, the LifeLight organization, a non-profit based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, hosted one large and well-attended festival in Sioux Falls. The heart of LifeLight, according to their website, is "to reach out with the truth and revelation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ", a point stressed by both local organizer Kelby Timmons and LifeLight president Josh Brewer.

The LifeLight organization was developed by Alan Greene and his wife, Vicki, in 1998, with the vision to reach the lost by "taking the church outside the walls". LifeLight accomplishes that end by presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ to festival attendees through contemporary Christian media. The festival began on a church lawn, and grew in recent years to draw approximately 300,000 people.

Putting together the event in Watford City was a coordinated effort between the churches and local business, providing sponsorship for the event. "All the churches are behind this. We're trying to bring a community family event for everybody, but also to share the Gospel," said Timmons.

Brewer hopes this Festival will be the first event to pack all 3000 seats at the Rough Rider Center. "We're looking to get community leaders, business leaders, and churches working together for a greater cause-that cause being gathering to change culture. We know when we turn on the TV or radio there are some troubling things in our culture. We are looking for people to work together to change culture and bring hope to us all," he said.

The event features the Fun Zone inflatables and a show by the Treagillusions, a ventriloquist act, from 2 to 5, Central time. The remaining events take place from 4 to 10PM, and include motocross, skateboard and BMX riders, as well as music and speakers. Family Force 5, a rock band from Atlanta, Georgia is set to perform, as well as The Afters, a Christian pop rock band from Texas. LifeLight's own Josh Brewer, Cade Thompson, Rachelle Hope, and Bobby Bugattii will also be performing, bringing an array of musical talent ranging from pop to beats.

"It's like Bonnaroo mixed with Nitro Circus. We're excited about it," Brewer said.

The cost of the event is $5 in advance, at https://www.itickets.com/events/396412, or $10 at the door. All funds collected will be put toward next year's event. "This is going to be an annual event," said Timmons.
