Bikes For Tykes-Of All Ages Gives Away 72 Bikes

On Saturday May 12, 2018 the Bikes for Tykes of All Ages workshop took place at the Richland County Courthouse parking lot. The workshop was a sight to see! There were 72 bikes given away in less than four hours. Stephanie Ridl, Sidney Park Superintendent, said she didn't know what quite to expect for a turn out and would have been happy if 30 bikes went to new owners. "I was ecstatic to see how many people heard about the workshop and came down to either take one of the nearly 50 bikes that were ready to go as is or take part in building their own bike from the large selection of bike parts we had available." In addition to the bikes, 43 helmets were also given away along with lots of bike safety accessories.

Ridl said she could not have pulled this project off alone and she sends much appreciation out to the Richland County Hikes and Trails Action Group who helped raise the funds to purchase the helmets and the many tire tubes that were much needed; Eagle Country Ford, Action Auto, Oneok, MJ Welding, and Johnson Hardware for funding the supplies; Sidney Health Center for providing bottled water; Richland County Library for supporting the bicycle community and recently introducing bike repair literature available for check out; Judge Trumpower, George Biebl, and Alice and Sean who came out to help with everything from tire repairs and seat adjustments to building bikes from the frame up; and a special thanks to my husband, Mike Ridl, who worked on these bikes in his spare time over the last 2 months parting bikes out and repairing as many as possible for the workshop.

"This was yet another project of mine that was made possible with the help and support of our community and I am truly grateful. I hope these bikes provide miles of fun and adventures!"
