Sidney Mercantile Makes Local Shopping Better and Easier

Owner Chris Entzel is providing an outlet for all the talented people in eastern Montana to display their wares with the opening of Sidney Mercantile in the Yellowstone Marketplace, downtown Sidney. It's also a year round opportunity for shoppers to purchase all those wonderful items they usually had to wait for a craft show to find.

With 27 vendors and more coming, the store is chock full of items, from the practical to whimsical, perfect for your own use or as gifts, and constantly changing. Check out the artwork, kitchen items, clothing for all ages, furniture, metal and wood signs, stuffed animals, candles, bath and body, plants, doll clothing, wreathes, photography, quilts, blankets, pillows, jewelry, agate items, paintings, horseshoe items, bags, skull art, soaps and essential oils and more. 96% of the vendors live within 60 miles of Sidney, with the remainder in central Montana offering items not available locally.

Entzel also plans to host various classes in the common area of the Yellowstone Marketplace as well as other events.

Entzel said she has always wanted to open a store featuring all the talent in Eastern Montana. "There's so much here!" she exclaimed. She believes it is important to shop locally, and Sidney Mercantile will make that shopping even easier.

Entzel also believes in giving back to the community. She hosts two fundraisers a year at the Elks and gives the profits to local entities. "I really like this community and want to be a bigger part of it," she said. "I feel really grateful to live here."

She extended a big thank you to Phil Johnson for his valuable advice, April Boehler and Elk River Printing for their help, Jake and Tara Carlsen for blowies and flooring work, Julie Lander for 'everything', her husband Judd for his support and all the vendors for believing in this dream.

Upcoming events include a special sale on September 21 with 20% of all sales going to the Jason Cayko Memorial scholarship fund and a sidewalk sale September 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A grand opening is planned for September 28 from 1 to 8 p.m. West Main will be closed from 5:30 to 8 p.m. with fun family events including a bale maze and petting zoo. Door prizes and refreshments will also be available.

Sidney Mercantile is open Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. with extended days and hours during the Christmas season. For more information, contact Entzel at 406-480-3319.
