MDHC Open House for the Bandits & Heroes, Poets & Saints Exhibition

Join the MonDak Heritage Center for an Open House for the Bandits & Heroes, Poets & Saints: Popular Art of the Northeast of Brazil exhibition at the MonDak on November 10, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Through engaging photographs and works of popular art, including sculptures, paints, and toys, Bandits & Heroes explores how the ancient cultures of Africa blended with indigenous and colonial Portuguese traditions to form the vibrant and complex cultural mosaic of modern Brazil. For this opening day of the exhibition, the MonDak has special Saturday hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and we will have refreshments throughout the day. Swing by to see this national traveling exhibit before it moves on to its next location! The exhibition is free to the public. It has been made possible through NEH on the Road, a special initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities. It is brought to you by Mid-America Arts Alliance. Bandits & Heroes, Poets & Saints: Popular Art of the Northeast of Brazil was organized by Con/Vida-Popular Arts of the Americas and Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Detroit, MI.
