It's a Small Town Christmas in Sidney

The Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce continues its theme, "It's a Small Town Christmas" in Sidney with a full slate of Christmas events.

Throughout November, remember to "Shop Sidney First" at Sidney area retailers to earn extra chances to win in the Christmas Cash Giveaway. Watch the LIVE prize drawing at noon on December 1 at Reynolds Market, the Chamber Facebook page, or listen to Power 95.1. Winners have five minutes to call Power 95.1 at 406-433-5090 with their winning number to claim their prize.

The Christmas Stroll & Parade of Lights, sponsored by Oneok, begins Friday, November 23, with Breakfast with Santa at the new fire hall on West Holly, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. MST. A full breakfast is available for a free-will donation to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Richland County. Pictures with Santa will also be available.

After breakfast, visit Reynold's Market for cookie decorating with the Clauses and Sidney Jaycees, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Then, head over to the Sidney Public School Office for another opportunity for photos with Santa from noon to 2 p.m. The event is sponsored by Power 95 and the Sidney Herald. The new School office is located at 101 South Central, in the former Stockman Bank location.

A soup cookoff, sponsored by Reynolds Market and Restorx, is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Restorx building. Prizes will be awarded. Sign up today at Reynolds Customer Service Desk or on the Reynolds Facebook page.

For the adventure-lover, the Eastern Montana Polar Plunge, presented by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the old fire hall. Register to take the plunge into the cold water to benefit athletes in the Sidney, Glendive, and Jordan areas through Special Olympics Montana at somt.org/plunge or call 800-242-6876.

The doors open at the MonDak Heritage Center for the annual Parade of Trees at 2:00 p.m. This stationary parade features trees designed and decorated by local groups, businesses, and individuals. Select trees are available through an online, silent auction. Others are auctioned off live at 3:30 pm by Montana Auction Company auctioneer Dan Goss. The winning bidders may take their tree home the following week. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Richland County and the MonDak Heritage Center.

Also at 2:00 p.m., the Centre Theatre will be playing three holiday movies on the big screen. The movie is free, sponsored by the Sidney Chamber.

The day's events conclude with the annual Parade of Lights at 6:30 pm. Floats and entries of many themes, decorated by local groups and businesses, will light up Central Avenue from Lincoln Ave to 2nd Street NE. Bleachers will be available on Central Ave between 3rd and 2nd Streets SW. The Sidney Rockettes, sponsored by Tri County Implement, will kick off the parade. Santa closes the parade on the Chamber float. Float entry is free, and lineup begins at 5:30 pm in the south Shopko parking lot.
