On Wednesday, Nov. 28 the Rau Elementary School was presented with two checks each for $2,500, one from Stockman Bank and the other from the Dayton Foundation to go towards purchasing new playground equipment. Rau Elementary School has been an integral part of this community for many years, meeting the needs of its students both in and out of district alike. However, we are finding that there is an improvement at Rau that needs to be addressed to better serve our students. To achieve that goal, the Rau School PTO is partnering with Rau Elementary to work towards the replacement of their playground equipment. Rau School takes immense pride in providing students with a quality education and facilities to support them throughout their school years.
The playground equipment has had very few updates since its installation in 1983. The current playground equipment no longer meets the safety code and has no handicap accessibility. Plans for the new playground include all new equipment, resurfacing and installation. Our fundraising goal is set at $65,000 and our efforts started in August of 2017 with student based fundraising. We would like to extend this incredible opportunity to you, our community, in order to reach our goal in a timely fashion.
The Rau Playground Project has been split in to "Phase 1" (purchasing our main playground structure, plus surfacing costs & labor to install it) & " Phase 2" (purchasing additional smaller structures - swings & merri-go-round, all with handicap accessibility, plus surfacing costs & labor to install them). Phase 1 is considered to be about half complete. Student-based fundraising & donations we have received from community members & businesses thus far have helped us to reach our goal to be able to purchase our main playground structure. We are still working on fundraising for the rest of phase 1 & then we hope to be able to move on to phase 2.
We are hopeful to reach our goal by April 2019 and this would not be possible without the generous individuals, families and businesses like you.
