The Speech, Drama & Debate team travelled to Culbertson this past weekend. Competing against 17 high schools from across eastern Montana. The entire team advanced to Finals and for the first time this season the Speech Team finished 1st with Lincoln Douglas Debaters leading the team to victory, Senior Yarenci Gonzalas placed 1st with Samuel Stephenson 2nd and Lorraine Cornato finishing 3rd. Juniors Christine Turek and Shea Roberts competed in MPA and finished 1st & 2nd. Senior Impromptu Shanyn Reidle placed 2nd. There was no Public Forum Debate offered at this meet so our PF team competed in impromptu Jazmine Hernandez was 4th and Brandon Smith finished 5th. Freshman Abby Kyhl placed 3rd in Original Oratory. And the adventurous Lexy Obergfell tried her hand at Spontaneous Oral Interp Placing 7th.
The Drama Team also brought home the 1st place trophy. Seniors Tyler Berka and Josh Delaney proved that they both are funny placing 4th in Hum Duo. The dramatic soloist also left their mark, leading the trio Josie Yockim 4th, Autumn Davis 5th and Kyla Carlson 6th. Classical Theatre actors Noah Kyhl & Isaac Quiroz 2nd, Daniel Schneider & Shoua Vang 4th. Freshman Kodi Schultz placed 5th in Humorous Solo.
The entire team will be heading to Laurel next weekend for one more meet before the Holiday.
