Meraki Boutique Now In Downtown Sidney

A business in Sidney has taken another step to meet the desires of area shoppers.

Meraki Boutique, owned by Billie Hillesland and Larysa Hurst, moved to Sidney's downtown area when they opened their doors at 314 S. Central Ave. on May 15.

The business started in January 2017 when they began selling Lularoe products out of Hillesland's basement and at area events such as the Richland County Fair. Then in early 2018, with two area stores closing, they expanded their line to include shoes and additional clothing.

Now in 2019, they have made the move to downtown Sidney, across the street from Verizon and next to Edward Jones (Jerry Hughes).

"For six months, we were thinking about going downtown, but there was no space available," Hillesland explained. "We couldn't pass up this location."

They said it took only three weeks for their remodeling projects thanks to help from family and friends. They agree the public's reaction has been outstanding.

"What we really noticed is that people didn't know we were doing clothes," Hillesland said. "We've seen a ton of new faces."

Items include women's tops, pants, workout gear, shoes and jewelry. Sizes are small through 3X. Prices range from $20-$65. Jeans cost between $45-$90.

Brands include Flying Monkey jeans, Kut from the Kloth, Blowfish shoes and Not Rated shoes.

When Meraki is notified that an item is on its way, customers are told through Facebook. Shoppers can then reserve a specific piece of clothing. "It's pretty convenient," Hillesland said.

Children's clothes are available through the Emersyn Lane portion of the store. The clothes are for ages new borns on up. Items include pajamas, shorts, tank tops and everyday clothes.

Store hours are noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

"It's been steady," Hillesland said of business. "We appreciate everybody coming in and seeing what we have to offer."

Meraki Boutique will hold its grand opening on Saturday, June 15. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. The first 15 individuals to make a purchase will get a canvas bag which they can receive 10 percent off purchases for the entire year. Appetizers and drinks will be offered during the grand opening scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
