For the past several years, a softball tournament has been held in Sidney to honor two wonderful local women who passed away too soon – Sherry Arnold and Janae Moore.
The annual Sherry and Janae’s Softball Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 13, at Meadow Field. But along with the softball action, everyone can enjoy a dance the night of the tournament.
“So many people felt they couldn’t play softball, but wanted to be involved with this,” organizer Tammy Pedersen said. “We wanted entertainment for everybody to enjoy.”
The dance, which runs from 8 p.m. to midnight, will take place in the Richland County Fair’s commercial building. Stone Yellow, a band from Sidney, will entertain the crowd.
The Richland County Baseball Program will offer its well-regarded fair menu items. Pizza House will handle the beer garden.
During the day, the softball tournament features players of all ages and both genders. Teams often include family members, adults and children. Door prizes are given out throughout the day.

With proceeds from the event, the organization helps community projects throughout the year.
