NDSU Extension Co-Hosting Aging Well Webinar Aug. 14

The webinar will discuss strategies for aging well to improve health and wellness.

The third in a four-part webinar series hosted by gerontologists from North Dakota State University Extension and South Dakota State University Extension will take place on August 14. It will discuss aging, how aging is different from disease, and barriers and strategies to aging well. The webinar begins at noon CDT.

Most people think aging happens to someone in their 60s or 70s, when in fact, all adults are aging, says Jane Strommen, NDSU Extension gerontology specialist.

While chronic disease and disability are more common in older adults, they are not an automatic consequence of aging. There are known strategies to improve health and wellness outcomes, even when individuals face chronic disease or disability.

"By investing time in learning about aging well, individuals are more likely to live healthier and more fulfilling lives once they achieve elder status," Strommen said.

Individuals will be able to participate from the comfort of their own home or during their lunch hour. The webinar will be recorded for those that are not able to attend in person.

There is no cost to participate. Please register by visiting https://extension.sdstate.edu/event/aging-well-lunch-and-learn or going to https://extension.sdstate.edu/events and scrolling down to the August 14 Aging Well Lunch and Learn.

A future Lunch and Learn webinar will feature:
