Fairview Students Head to the Pool

Middle School students in Fairview spent their first week of science class getting ready to sail in the Fairview swimming pool. They spent the first two days in class learning about density, the center of mass and buoyancy. The next three days were spent constructing a boat out of just cardboard and duct tape. Last Thursday, science teacher Brandi Tjelde and lots of adult helpers, took the boats and students to the pool to try out their creations. The kids were supposed to paddle across the pool and back without sinking. The event is held every three years, ensuring that all the middle school students have the opportunity to participate.

It was a beautiful sunny morning and the students had a great time, whether their boats were seaworthy or not.
