After breaking ground in the spring of 2018, the new McKenzie County Public Works Building opened its doors the first week in September. The grand opening was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by tours of the facility and refreshments on October 1.

The new public works building is located on a 32-acre site and totals 67,000 sq ft. The building houses the following county departments: Road & Bridge, Planning and Zoning, Water, GIS, Weed Control and WAWSA Office Space.
