Jack's Big Band Kicks Off Daniels County Centennial, New Years Eve, Scobey

On New Year's Eve in Scobey, Daniels County will kick off its centennial year to the music of The Jack Reiner Big Band. The gala event features "100 Years of Music" beginning with the Roaring Twenties.

Doors to the party open at 8 p.m. at The Saddle Club on Golf Course Road. Big band music starts 8:30 p.m. and continues to midnight. Partygoers are invited to don attire from the decade of their choice.

There are very few big bands left in America, making this the place to enjoy swing band greats such as "In the Mood," "Pennsylvania 6-5000," "Jump, Jive an' Wail" and "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie." Those who like to waltz, polka or foxtrot, can dance to the "Blue Skirt Waltz," "Beer Barrel Polka" or "Swinging on a Star." The evening will also feature beautiful vocals by Carla Rask.

Hosted by the Daniels County Centennial Committee, the event will include a cash bar, appetizers and a champagne toast at midnight. Tickets, available at the door, are $20 per person. This event is a fundraiser for all the centennial activities planned for July 3-5.

Capacity is limited, and tickets may be purchased in advance through the Daniels County Library, 203 Timmons, PO Box 190, Scobey MT 59263. For information, call 406-487-5502. The Centennial Committee is working with other community groups to celebrate the county's history throughout 2020. Summer highlights include Pioneer Days June 26-28 and lots of fun July 3-5.
