Train Accident Near Bainville

 

Railroad crews work to get Amtrak cars back on the tracks after derailment between Culbertson & Bainville.

On May 29 an accident between an Amtrak passenger train and a John Deer sprayer tractor at mile marker 653, at a crossing with no crossing arms, on Highway 2 near Bainville. The male operating the sprayer is deceased. The Amtrak train has 10 cars derailed with multiple injuries being reported. The engineer and two passenger services members were taken to Culbertson High School for triage and released with minor injuries. No passengers were injured. The tracks have since been cleared and rail traffic has been resumed.
