Jackson Dodds Continues To Excel At Hockey

Last year, Jackson Dodds broke a Watford City Oilers scoring record. He broke The Career Points Record with 323 points in just three seasons. "A lot of hard work and commitment is what helped me break that record," said Dodds. He broke that record his senior year at Watford City High School when he was playing for the Watford City Oilers.

Before Dodds, that record was broken in 2001 (the year Dodds was born) and that individual broke the record in four seasons.

Dodds added, "I broke that record with just five games left to play my senior year. I felt pretty good when I broke that record - it made me feel like I was making a difference in the hockey club there because people were looking up to me and my brother and that made other kids in Watford City want to join hockey."

Dodds is now a freshman at Williston State College where he is pursuing a degree in sports management and playing hockey for the WSC Tetons. He said," I just wanna try to keep playing hockey and develop as many skills as I can - I also want to do as best as I can in school so that I have something to do after hockey."

Dodds is hoping to play hockey for a four-year college like Minot State College. He is also going to try out for the Bismarck Bobcats, which is a Tier II junior ice hockey team in the North American Hockey League's Central Division.

Dodds has been playing hockey since the age of four and explains that his favorite part about hockey is the opportunity to let loose and have fun with his friends.

He said that the main reason why he and his twin brother, Fox Dodds, are so successful is because, growing up, they were always competitive with each other. He stated," We were always pushing each other to do better and my brother, Fox, actually broke the record after me."

He also added that he has had so much hockey success because of his family and coaches. He said, "My family has always supported me, and I have had several good coaches, Dave Hansen, Chaz Mosby, and Cody Brooks, who were always there to help guide me through hockey and life."
