Funding Available Through USDA Value-Added Producer Grant Program

The Montana Department of Agriculture would like to make you aware of a funding opportunity available through the USDA Value-Added Producer Grant program. Applications are due March 22, 2021.

USDA Rural Development’s Value-Added Producer Grant is available to independent producers, agricultural producer groups, farmer- or rancher-cooperatives, and majority-controlled producer-based business ventures. The program is designed to help producers enter into value-added activities related to the processing and marketing of new products.

Total Program funding is $33 million with up to $75,000 for planning grants and $250,000 for working capital grants. Some of the successful projects awarded funds in Montana in previous years include: Big Mountain Ciderworks, Bitterroot Bison Company, Living River Farms, and Montana Sheep Company.

We hope that you will help share this opportunity with fellow Montanans in your network who may be a good fit.
