DJ's Ice Cream Parlor & YakAttak Coffee Brings Fun To Fairview

A unique ice cream shop has brought a bit of fun and flair to the Fairview community. DJ's Ice Cream Parlor & YakAttak Coffee, 308 S. Interstate Ave., Fairview, sells all sorts of specialty coffees, ice cream, snow cones, cotton candy, and much more.

"We make creative and crazy drinks - we are definitely not the normal coffee/ice cream shop," said Jessica Shaffer, DJ's Ice Cream Parlor & YakAttak Coffee owner.

The parlor offers dine-in, drive-through, and curbside.

Most of the products served at DJ's Ice Cream Parlor & YakAttak Coffee are Montana-made. "The Wilcoxson's Ice Cream Co. ice cream we serve is all made in Billings and our coffee beans are locally roasted, we have fudge and candies we get from Missoula. We try to keep everything in Montana as much as possible," said Shaffer.

The Shaffer family owns the business: Jessica, Michael, Bethany, Whitney, Dakota, and Tyrell are all a part of the family business. The business is named after Jessica Shaffer's mother-in-law, Dorothy Jean Shaffer, who passed away in April 2020 with COVID-19.

The interior of the shop is filled with 1950s inspired decor. "We decided to go with the '50s era because Dorothy loved that. We have disco lights, black and white checkered flooring, and pictures of Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe," added Shaffer.

When the shop first opened on Jan. 4, 2021, the goal was to employ local kids and provide fun for all ages. Shaffer said, "We wanted to be a part of the community and have something fun for the kids to do. We have employed several local kids and continue to provide fun and entertainment for the community."

In the future, the Shaffers would like to add a half-sized restaurant to the business.

DJ's Ice Cream Parlor & YakAttak Coffee is open 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Saturdays, and 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Sundays. For more information on what the business is up to, check out their Facebook page.
