Five Badlands Gymnastics Qualified For USA Gymnastics Region 4 Championships At Regionals April 23-25

Athletes from Badlands Gymnastics, Watford City, going to "Regionals" is a big deal! A real big deal! In school sports going to "regionals" means competing against athletes from a portion of North Dakota or Montana. In gymnastics going to "regionals" means competing against athletes from a portion of the United States.

So, when Caroline Dreffs, Williston, Sasha Stiegs, Watford City, Skye Cutshall, Watford City, Emma and Annabelle Coughlin, Sidney, represented Badlands Gymnastics at the USA Gymnastics Region 4 Championships in Bettendorf, IA, April 23-25; they competed against 1336 gymnasts from well over a 100 gymnastics clubs from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa.

Not just any ND Level 6 or Level 7 gymnast got to go to the Region 4 Championships, they had to pre-qualify for that honor by scoring a minimum All Around (total score for the four gymnastics events Floor Exercise, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam & Vault) of 34.000. Many L6/7 ND gymnasts did not obtain that score. All four Badlands Level 6s and their one Level 7, did and off they went 965 miles to Bettendorf, IA!

Once again, like they have been doing the entire 2020-2021 season, the gymnasts of Badlands "floored" their coaches Pat & Jan McWilliams with the results! Coach Pat had said the week prior to Regionals "It's our first time to Regionals, so we're going there to learn about "big time" gymnastics and not worry about getting up on the awards stand." Not good enough for Caroline, Sasha, Skye, Emma and Annabelle. They not only "learned" about "big time" gymnastics; they did North Dakota style "big time" gymnastics and everyone of them came home with at least one Regional medal!

Sasha Stieg: 7th Floor Exercise 9.35

Level 6 Senior C Division:

Annabelle Coughlin: 5th Bars 8.750; 4th Balance Beam 9.225; 8th All Around 35.000

Emma Coughlin: 3rd Balance Beam 9.375

Level 7 Senior B:

Caroline Dreffs: 6th Uneven Bars 8.875; 3rd Floor Exercise 9.300; 4th All Around 35.625

Five Badlands gymnasts went to Regionals, five Badlands gymnasts came home with medals. It doesn't get any better than that. Congratulations ladies!
