Jordyn Melby, with the help of her husband, Beau Melby, opened a brand-new children's boutique located at 141 7th St. SW, Sidney. Huckleberry Children's Boutique provides a wide range of clothing (currently sizes newborn-2T), toys, accessories, bath products, and much more for all price ranges.
Melby also has a photo studio in the same space for indoor pictures including newborn, headshots, and family pictures. Melby went to college for photography and has been running her own business, Jordyn Melby Photography for several years.
Saturday, July 31, the store had its ribbon cutting and grand opening. Since then, the boutique has been filling the need for baby and toddler clothing in the area. Melby said, "It has been going really well so far. I love seeing all the little kids that come in and hearing about how excited everyone is about this children's boutique."
The idea for the boutique started when Melby found out she was pregnant with her son. She wanted to announce her pregnancy to her parents with a onesie, so she drove around Sidney for quite some time and only found one store that carried baby clothing.
"There was only one place that had something, and I spent $65 for a onesie and booties that I wrote on with a permanent marker to announce my pregnancy to my parents. That is when the thought was planted and then when my son was born that idea came to fruition," said Melby.
She hopes that this boutique can be a spot that anyone can come to for his or her baby and toddler needs. She said, "I hope this can be a safe and happy place for everyone to come and purchase items. I have an area for kids to come and play and for moms to come, chit-chat, and get out of the house."
Melby hopes that this boutique allows people to shop locally and avoid online shopping and shipping. "We really needed a baby store, so I just want to be able to be that spot for all price limits and be able to take care of their kiddos."
