Sidney Fellowship Baptist Church Brings Awana Back

Sidney Fellowship Baptist Church is soon to host the Awana program again, starting Wednesday, Sept. 22 and continuing every following Wednesday from 6:30 - 8 p.m. The church hosted this program from 2008-2018 and due to an overwhelming number of volunteers and church workers, the program will be starting up again.

"We are excited to be back. We are in the second-generation era of Awana; we have people who participated in the program as kids come and bring their kids to the program as well," added FBC Pastor Jordan Hall.

Awana is a nonprofit ministry focused on providing Bible-based evangelism and discipleship solutions for ages 2-18 of all backgrounds. It has been in operation for over six decades and is noted to be the largest children's ministry in the world, in 120 nations reaching around 4 million kids. The program teaches children Scripture memorization with incentives through which they can learn, grow, and have fun.

The Awana program is split into three age brackets including Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T.

Cubbies is for potty trained to preschool aged children. It features games, storytelling, puppet shows, biblical teaching, and take-home activities and tools.

Sparks is designed for kindergarten up to 2nd grade; it includes ministry curriculum with games, activities, Biblical teachings, and media resources.

T&T is for grades 3 - 6. This upper elementary school ministry curriculum is focused to ensure that children connect through God's word.

This program is safe for all ages. All child workers have had an in-depth background check and are outstanding members of the community. All children are welcome to attend Awana.

"One time we had more than 120 kids at Awana. The vast majority of kids that come to Awana don't even attend our church. It is a really fun program that attracts a lot of kids from various backgrounds," said Hall.

Adults and youth are also welcome to attend "Apologetics for Young Adults" from 7-8 p.m. as well, as three different kinds of Christian apologetics will be taught throughout the course of the education calendar.

"We are hoping to see a positive impact in children's emotional, relational, and spiritual growth. All we want to do is plant the seed of the scripture in the children's hearts," added Hall.
