Havre Sector Border Patrol Agents Locate Runaway Juvenile in Plentywood, Montana

PLENTYWOOD, Mont. –U.S. Border Patrol agents from Plentywood Station were notified of a runaway juvenile possibly headed to North Dakota.

On September 12, 2021, Sheridan County Sheriff’s Department placed a look-out on a runaway juvenile driving his parents’ vehicle. Plentywood Border Patrol agents were notified by dispatch of a local runaway juvenile, who had taken their parents car and was possibly headed to North Dakota. At approximately 2:20 a.m., Agents observed a vehicle matching the description of the runaway juvenile leaving the local gas station parking lot heading south on US Highway 16. Agents confirmed the vehicle was in fact the same vehicle that the runaway juvenile was reportedly driving. Agents followed the vehicle for approximately two blocks before the driver immediately pulled over and parked the car. Agents approached the vehicle and identified the driver as the reported runaway juvenile. Sheridan County Sheriff's Office was notified, and the juvenile was transported to the Sheridan County Sheriffs' office.

"Combined efforts such as this, between the Havre Sector Border Patrol and the Sheridan County Sheriff's Department, are a great example of how working together with our partners helps to keep our communities and residents safe," said Deputy Chief Patrol Agent Michael S. Lata. "By communicating closely with the Sheridan County Sheriff's Department, we were able to work together and locate the missing juvenile and return him to his family safely."
