NDRA Rodeo Slated For Sept. 24-25 In Watford City

This year, the McKenzie County Cowboys Association will be hosting the North Dakota Rodeo Association Championship Finals Rodeo at the McKenzie County Fairgrounds, Watford City, on Friday, Sept. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 25. The rodeo will start at 7 p.m. on Friday and 6 p.m. on Saturday. The NDRA Rodeo will include a rodeo dance, The Mud Butte Band, a ranch rodeo, and vendors.

The Finals Rodeo will feature the top contestants in each standard event and pit them against the top stock in the state. Events that will be at the finals rodeo is bareback and saddle bronc riding, lady’s breakaway and barrels, men’s breakaway and bull riding, team roping, steer wrestling, and tie-down roping. Saturday afternoon there will also be a ranch rodeo that local contestants will participate in. 

The rodeo will feature a kids boot race, a wild ride at each performance, vendors, beer gardens, and concessions.

The NDRA is one of North Dakota’s largest rodeo entities. It was formed in 1953 and is made up of over 500 members that compete in rodeos across the state of North Dakota. The NDRA puts on 15-25 rodeos a year. The association averages about 200 cowboys and cowgirls from Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Minnesota per rodeo.

Everyone is encouraged to come out and watch rodeo finalists compete for the 2021 NDRA Championship state titles!
