1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Theo Reaches 1,000 Book Milestone

Theo really digs reading about dinosaurs. In fact, despite reading everything he could about dinosaurs both at home and at his daycare, Sue's Sunshine, he still needed more books! He was so excited when the library purchased some new dinosaur books. This helped Theo to achieve the goal of reading 1,000 books. Theo Perez, 2 years old, is the son of Savannah Asay and Chris Perez.

To encourage a love of reaching in children, the Sidney-Richland County Library is promoting "1,000 Books before Kindergarten", a nationwide program that encourages parents and caregivers to read aloud with their children every day. Research continually shows that children who are read aloud to every day before kindergarten will have higher scores and more success when they begin school. Most importantly, sharing books with children promotes a lifelong love of books and learning.

The theme of the Sidney-Richland County Library program is "The Magic of Reading". Children receive a small prize at each 100-level milestone, and at the end of the program participants earn a certificate and t-shirt for successful completion. This program is free to children ages 0-4 and their families. Stop by the library to sign up today!

1,000 Books Achievement Easy For Easton

Easton loves to learn. As a student at Sue's Sunshine Daycare, Easton jumps in to learn his numbers and letters. So books were naturally another big love for Easton, and the reason why he has already read well over 1,000 books. Easton Kunda, 2 years old, is the son of Kayler & Mike Kunda.
