52nd Annual Sugarbeet Research Reporting Session Scheduled for Fargo on Jan. 11

Researchers and Extension specialists will provide updates on current sugarbeet research.

The 52nd annual Sugarbeet Research Reporting Session will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the West Fargo Convention Center starting at 7:30 a.m.

Researchers and Extension specialists from North Dakota State University (NDSU), the University of Minnesota, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as well as from European research institutes and universities will provide updates on current sugarbeet research.

"Each year the Sugarbeet Research and Education Board of Minnesota and North Dakota provides generous funding to support sugarbeet research and Extension educational programming for area sugarbeet growers," says Mohamed Khan, NDSU and University of Minnesota Extension sugarbeet specialist. "This session allows researchers to discuss their findings with growers looking for the latest information. We will include speakers from Europe who will participate through Zoom."

Researchers will address methods for controlling insects, diseases and weeds; strategies for managing glyphosate-resistant weeds; and pathogens that develop resistance to fungicides or overcome host resistance.

Registration is not required and the event is open to everyone interested in sugarbeet research.

Lunch will be provided by the Sumitomo Corporation.

Continuing education credits will be available for certified crop advisers.

The West Fargo Convention Center is located at 825 E. Beaton Drive, West Fargo, ND, 58078.
