The Pioneer Musuem Of McKenzie County Presents A Celebration Of Hygge

Saturday, Feb. 12 beginning at 11 a.m. the Pioneer Museum warmly presents a Celebration of Hygge (hoo-gah) taking place at the Pioneer Museum/Long X Visitor Center, 100 2nd Ave SW, Watford City featuring Jessie Veeder, Daphne Johnson-Clark, Nikki Darrington, and Jess Newman. The Pioneer is proud to bring a Celebration of Hygge once again to the Pioneer Museum/Long X Visitor Center for the sixth year and as a family event.

Hygge (hoo-gah) - A calm comfortable time with people you love. A complete absence of frustrations or anything emotionally overwhelming often enjoyed with good food and drinks, warm blankets, music and candlelight. It is a way of life inspired by the Danish and the Scandinavian Heritage that celebrates coziness, shared meals and interactions with friends and loved ones emphasizing warmth, kinship and an appreciation for the little things in life. We invite you to come Hygge with us on Saturday, Feb.12.

Jessie Veeder: Jessie will read from her newly released children’s book “Prairie Princess”, discuss the inspiration, creative and publishing process and conduct a fun and engaging art project that encourages you to explore the place you love most. A country girl celebrates the prairie and why she calls it home in this book about a child’s connection to the land. Beautifully illustrated by North Dakota artist Daphne Johnson-Clark and inspired by Jessie’s magical childhood on her family’s ranch in western North Dakota, “Prairie Princess” lets a little girl be the expert tour guide and caretaker of the land that she knows so well and reminds us what it’s like to be captivated and responsible for a place. www.jessieveedermusic.com

Daphne Johnson-Clark: Daphne thinks of her paintings as capturing a moment in time whether that would be the disappearing lifestyle of the rancher, a beautiful day or the essence of a loved one and did she ever capture the essence of a loved one in her illustration in the children’s book “Prairie Princess.” Daphne will have on display several of her original art pieces used in the book as well as other completed pieces from her portfolio. http://www.daphneclarkart.com

The Hygge Hen - Nikki Darrington: ‘How To Hygge Your Home!’ Nikki loves to share about all things, organizing, decorating, planning and food through her blog and live video postings. Recently she issued a challenge of Hygge Hen’s Clean Your Coop... to organize, simplify & enjoy your home. Come and hear Nikki’s suggestions to start your year with a clean coop! Welcome to the Hyyge Hen and Nikki’s Nest! http://www.facebook.com/nikki.darrington.
