Gatekeeper Training For Suicide Prevention Offered On April 11, Watford City

If someone you know was considering suicide, would you recognize the warning signs and know how to help? Learn how to save a life by attending QPR Gatekeeper Training to be held from 6-7 p.m., Monday, April 11 at NDSU Extension/McKenzie County, 205 6th St. NW, west of the Courthouse, Watford City. Pre-registration is kindly requested by Friday, April 8 by calling 701-444-3451 or emailing [email protected].

Q-question, P-persuade and R-refer – are the three steps anyone can learn to save a life from suicide. Participants of this session will come to recognize the warning signs, clues and suicidal communications of people in trouble. They will gain skills needed to act quickly to prevent a possible tragedy. Thus, a gatekeeper is anyone in a position to recognize a crisis and warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. Gatekeepers also know how to offer help and seek help to save a life.

Applying QPR plants the seeds of hope and can bring a personal crisis out of the dark and into the light. It is a positive, hopeful technique. And more than anything else, hope helps reduce the risk of premature death by suicide.

Hope begins with you! Thank you for caring and please register for this training today!
