Yellowstone River Water Level Caution

Richland County Emergency Service Agencies are closely observing the Yellowstone River to monitor levels in response to Flooding happening in Carbon County/Red Lodge and surrounding areas currently. We will continue to monitor and update if conditions change.

What we know now: are predictions that our water levels will not reach the Flood Stage. Water levels are expected to reach 15.9ft on Friday Morning, and then lower soon after.

Water levels need to reach 19ft to be considered in the flood stage. There still is the concern that these levels may bring waters inland in some of the lower areas, possibly affecting some county roads and farmland.

What should you do: This week we will see raising levels and debris coming down the river. Please be aware of this and be extremely cautious with recreational activities on or by the river.

Thursday to Saturday please limit activities by the river as the higher levels may become dangerous, and can surround land areas with water preventing travel out of the area.

For General Information or Flooding reporting, please contact Richland County DES at (406) 433-2220

For immediate Emergencies, please dial 911.

Be safe out there.
