99th Annual PRCA Killdeer Mountain Roundup Rodeo To Span Three Days This Year

For 98 years the Killdeer Saddle Club has been bringing the Killdeer Mountain Roundup Rodeo and many other rodeos to Killdeer. This year will be the 99th year of the Roundup, and will be held July 2-4.

Saturday, July 2 is the first day. The Rodeo Queen Pageant will start at 2 p.m. Then at 5 p.m. there will be a barrel racing event, followed by a breakaway slack event. Sunday, July 3 will have a Calcutta at 5:30 p.m., and at 6 p.m. will be the coronation for Saturday's winning Rodeo Queen. The actual rodeo starts at 6:30 p.m. Monday, the final day of the rodeo, will be packed with excitement. The Rodeo Slack will begin at 8 a.m. There will be a BBQ held at High Plains Community Center from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. and will be a parade at 3 p.m. then, the Calcutta is at 5:30 p.m. and the rodeo is at 6:30 p.m. There will be a fireworks display at 9 p.m.

A concessions and beer gardens will be provided on both days by the Killdeer Saddle Club, along with vendors selling food, clothing, and tack. Also included will be a bounce house and a mechanical bull for those who wish to try bull riding. The ticket gates open at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday and Monday. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for kids, and those six and under are free. Tickets are available at http://www.killdeermountainrounduprodeo.com and at some businesses in Killdeer. The arena complex is one mile west of Killdeer along the Hwy 22 bypass truck route.

The Killdeer Saddle Club is a nonprofit volunteer organization that strives to continue the tradition of rodeo and the western heritage in the area. The saddle club hosts the Killdeer Mountain Roundup PRCA Rodeo every year, July 3–4. They also organize the Killdeer Youth Rodeo and many other events throughout the year.
