The Holiday Season Begins In Williston

With Halloween over and Thanksgiving just around the bend, the holiday season is coming up fast. Williston businesses and the Williston Downtowner’s Association are ready with several fun and exciting events to make this season one to remember.

There are several events planned, starting Black Friday. The Holiday Lights Parade is on November 25. Besides the parade, there are lots of fun activities at the James Memorial Art Center. Also, the weekend after Thanksgiving the small businesses in town will have a ton of sales for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. From November 26-December 31 will be Spring Lake Park Lights Drive. December 1-5, Entertainment Inc will be putting on their production of Christmas Cafe at the Old Armory. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.entertainmentinc.org/Tickets. On December 2, the Community Builders Reindeer Games will be held at the Arc from 5-9 p.m. On December 3 they will have their Festival of Trees. The Festival of Trees is a ticketed event and not open to the general public. December 4 is going to be the Upper Missouri Relay for Life Jingle Jamboree with carnival games and activities for the whole family. It will also be at the Arc. December 9 will be the Downtowners Association’s Holiday Stroll. During the Stroll, Main Street will be closed from 5-8 p.m. with lots of fun family activities.

This year, the Williston Chamber of Commerce is offering the “Loyal to Local Holiday Passport”. It is meant to encourage the community to shop locally during the holiday season. “Loyal to Local Holiday Passports” can be obtained at participating businesses. The customer must visit at least five or more businesses with at least $275 or more worth of confirmed purchases to be eligible for the Grand Prize Donations drawing. Participating businesses will confirm purchases by stamping the customer’s passport during the original transaction. The customer will then fill out their passport and return it to the chamber to be eligible to win prizes. The chamber is looking for donations to purchase a few ‘Great’ Grand Prizes. They would advertise these donations on their website and social media to encourage people to shop or eat locally.
